When I was looking at the video for last week’s post Bjork’s ‘Army of Me’ came up in the suggested videos.

The lyrics could be interpreted as a female dominant who’s had about enough backchat from her sub.

I’m pretty much in love with it.

It starts with war drums then kicks into a beat reminiscent of The Matrix and then, she’s increasingly done with your nonsense. ‘Sweeping’ and ‘orchestral’ come to mind. But still industrial. It’s what the inside of a FemDom’s head sounds like when it’s punishment time, I feel certain.

Power is Mine — Lords of Acid

Calling all FemDoms and their lovers. Lords of Acid have entered the building. And they are about to own your happy ass.

I can’t believe it took me so long to remember this group (I was reminded by a post in the BDSM music choices group on FetLife). I got the Voodoo U CD as a teenager and it was unlike anything I had heard. These women were talking about men like they were the commodity. All of their songs seem to have some sort of theme of dominance and submission or sexuality or fetishism. Or all of the above. Aside from the lyrics, the music is electronic or industrial, depending upon your definitions of those. It’s heavier with a nice beat–sometimes driving, sometimes sultry. And works well loud.

Personal Jesus

Depeche Mode’s ‘Personal Jesus’ is about someone willing to take on the woes and worries of another. And help them with surrendering those cares with a sound flogging or caning.

That second part is an extrapolation, but I think it’s obvious. Right? Right.

It’s clearly from the point of view of a D-type or a top.

The song has a gritty sound and a moderate beat, good for heavier scenes.

Featured in the first part of Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac epic (which I’ll be reviewing in two weeks), Rammstein’s ‘Fuhre mich’ meets all criteria for music for scenes, Dominants and submissives.

Tear You Apart

I’ve always thought this song was about a male teacher dating his female student. I’ve no idea if that’s what it’s actually about, but that’s my interpretation. That he’s in his mid 30s and she’s seventeen or so. Again this is down to my own warped little brain.

The reason I chose this one as a song for Dominants, is how violently the narrator feels for the female. He talks about grabbing her hair and tearing her apart he feels so strongly. It’s more than a crush. It’s how I imagine Dominants feel for their subs.

I particularly like the line ‘it’s just like all the others, it’ll go away’, which could apply to other female student crushes or to female subs. The Dom has had all sorts of subs and liked them well enough but they all go away, but no, this sub. She’s different.
