Rope

I’ve recently started doing the rope thing. This is a page to track my progress and share my pretty knots.

The first rope we bought. From RopeSpace.com. It will never be this neat again.

The first thing I tied! It was all over after this moment, friends.

My first tie

Box Ties

This box tie came from Shibari You Can Use by Lee Harrington

First attempt, which had to be aborted, as Walter got light-headed and sweaty and it was no good. From here on out, he’ll be doing box ties with fewer clothes on.

Second attempt. Fewer clothes equals success.

Gauntlets

This came from Shibari You Can Use by Lee Harrington

First attempt. I didn’t leave it loose enough to tuck the ends in.

Second attempt. Much improved. The third one (on the right when both arms are in the shot) is the best thus far.

Third attempt. New rope by a different manufacturer. The one on the left when both arms are in shot is my best thus far–continuing to improve.

This is a double gauntlet Walter wanted to try to help hold his hands in place during a boxtie. As you can see, I started it too far to the right on my first attempt. Centered properly it’ll look pretty sweet.

Hogties

This hogtie is from the local rope group and the first thing I learned to do. I didn’t realize until setting this page up that I didn’t take a full-body shot, but his giant feet are indeed connected to the chest harness by a pulley.

Second attempt. Oh boy, what a mess. I tried burning the rope with half hitches, which made it look like some sort of spine.

Third go. A friend saw this and said, ‘That looks like a machine made it.’ I was so proud. And, good grief, it’s difficult to get a full-body shot of a giant person. I am determined to make it happen next time.

Leg Ties

Attempt one, which is the same tie we learned from Bodhi from RopeSpace, but then refreshed by this video. I’m happy with the way one side turned out, but the other is a little meh. 60 feet of rope is far too much for this tie, even on Walter’s large legs.

Rope Kitties

You’ve heard of rope bunnies, well, we have rope kitties. One in particular just loves our jute rope. She enjoys ‘helping’ me tie, as well. Rope is very much a family activity in our house. She participated in Episode 005 A Life Less Monogamous of the podcast for the first time. I’m sure it won’t …
